5 Brands Winning at Halloween Marketing in 2021

Halloween is the first in a series of holidays that make Q4 such an exciting time for social media marketers. It’s a time for brands to not only increase their sales, but also let loose, get creative, and celebrate with their community.

If you’re reading this then you’re probably as stoked for Halloween as we are, so we won’t keep you waiting. Here’s 5 brands that are ✨winning✨ at Halloween marketing this year.

1. LUSH @lushcosmetics

Ethical cosmetics company LUSH ace pretty much every holiday in the year, and Halloween is no exception. With themed products including a pumpkin bath bomb, illuminous yellow shower gel, and Scream bubble blowers, you might say the marketing department has an easier job than most.

And yet, every year LUSH gets creative with out-of-the-box campaigns that capture the imagination and attention of its followers. This year is no exception. On its Lush Cosmetics North America Instagram page, the brand has launched its products with a series of IGTV videos that show Halloween characters’ unique beauty rituals.

ASOS @ASOS

ASOS's 2020 #AsosDayToFright TikTok Campaign racked up a staggering 2.7 billion views.

ASOS is arguably the ultimate fashion Queen of Halloween. Last year, it ran its super successful TikTok campaign #AsosDayToFright, which encouraged creators to show off their best Halloween looks to a custom audio clip. The hashtag racked up a staggering 2.7B views, with TikTok creators such as Abby Roberts (17.3M followers), MakeupByTammi (500k followers), and Charlotte Roberts (9M followers) taking part.

And ASOS stays winning this year with its Halloween social media content. On TikTok, the brand is posting everything from spooky makeup tutorials to iconic celebrity Halloween costumes, as well as running a branded #ASOSAlterEgo campaign which already has more than 600M views. Over on Instagram, it’s sticking to its winning format, putting a seasonal twist on popular posts like its fresh nail sets and outfit inspo.

Asda @Asda

We’re used to seeing Halloween decorations during our in-store October supermarket trips, but the first signs of the spooky season are increasingly appearing on our TV screens and social media feeds. This year Asda’s embracing both, with a light-hearted on-screen advert to go alongside its Halloween-themed content across social media.

Asda’s social media posts are brilliantly tailored to its target audience of family shoppers, with fun and engaging tricks and treats. Think recipe tutorials, home decoration inspiration, and plenty of user-generated content, including cute matching costumes and homemade pumpkin carvings.

Fanta @FantaGreatBritain

Once again, Fanta has pulled it out the bag this year with a series of prank videos to launch its annual Halloween-themed drinks bottles. In this year’s campaign, Fanta’s also launched its Ultimate Halloween Game, which gives buyers the chance to win cash and tech prizes.

And this is just the latest in a string of annual campaigns by Fanta, which has become notorious for its fun and engaging Halloween content. In 2018, it collaborated with Snapchat to launch a series of themed, branded lenses for users to engage with on the platform.

Fanta’s 2018 Halloween campaign featured a ‘Explooosive Snapchat filters and lenses’ which it advertised on its bottles.

Revolution Makeup @makeuprevolution

Revolution’s Instagram grid shows a mixture of Halloween collaborations and influencer content.

With an array of Halloween-themed drops, including collaborations with The Simpsons for its ‘Treehouse of Horror’ collection, as well as Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Revolution is truly embodying the scary season with its product lines.

But it’s also going all out on social media, with a complete Halloween makeover to its Instagram grid and TikTok account. Using a combination of product close-ups, branded launch posts, and plenty of influencer content, Revolution is establishing itself as the go-to makeup brand for Halloween.
