Speaker Spotlight: Q&A with Rejoice Ojiaku, Content Strategist - Rise at Seven

The countdown is on to SocialDay Forum 2022: the event helping social media marketers do their jobs better. We’ve been working on an incredible line-up this year, with speakers from the major social media platforms, biggest brands and most up-and-coming agencies.

One of these speakers is Rejoice Ojiaku, Content Strategist - Rise at Seven, who will be speaking about:

Social & Search: Content Inclusivity and What That Looks Like

Let’s learn more about Rejoice:

First off, what do you LOVE about SocialDay?

Gives people a great space to learn about topics they haven’t thought of or topics they didn’t know they will find interesting

Rejoice, what’s your story?

Started as a graduate in an agency doing a graduate scheme in SEO, moved to junior Technical SEO Exec then got my first account manager role as the Global SEO Account Manager. After that I went on to become an SEO Manager at Incubeta then SEO Account Manager (Content) for Starcom. Now I’m a content strategist with Rise at Seven.

Whats the focus of your SocialDay talk?

How to be inclusive with content when we speak about social content and search content. Learn what inclusive content looks like and the benefits it has when it comes to user journey and storytelling.

We are really looking forward to your SocialDay session, what are the key takeaways?

Understand why inclusivity matters in content creation and how it can benefit a brand’s reputation as well as create relatedness between brand and users.

What has been your best social media success story?

The rise of Khaby Lame. He was able to grow a following on TikTok without speaking, which doesn’t happen often in the way it has. It’s authentic and audiences have been able to relate to some degree.

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve seen on social media in the last 12 months?

I have enjoyed how brands have been creating reactive content on social media during the Love Island season.

What challenges do you feel you will be facing in the coming years in your role?

I think what will be challenging for content is how it will appear in the metaverse. How will brands be able to story tell using concepts like AI and web 3. Figuring that out, and working out how to identify user intent and journey will be difficult but it will force brands to be creative.

What has been your favourite social media campaign in the last 12 months?

McDonald’s McSpicy debate. It was very clever in getting people to buy it in order to rank how spicy they found it. It made the campaign interactive and fun. Almost creating a community of spicy lovers and those who are up for a challenge by tapping into the concept of FOMO

Finally, what would you like to see happen in social media in the future?

More creativity and interactive campaigns to speak about real world issues. I think by creating a conversation via social media in an interactive way can allow brands to connect more with their audience on a deeper level and it has more longevity that trying to do a campaign for viral purposes.
